Vacation Suggestions (that include driving)?
Hi all, I am a relatively new 04 S2K owner from Chicago (purchased in October), and am planning a trip to your area in February. My S is basically in storage now and am currently driving my winter beater (Integra GSR), but am already feeling withdrawl from the lack of real high performance driving. Is there a track I can go to where I can rent a car (and even get driving lessons). As you may suspect, all the tracks and driving schools close down from about November through March/April around here. And I never got a chance to run the S on the track.
Or I can just rent a Porsche for $300 a day or something while down there
to cruise the streets with the wife, but that would be a distant second choice.
Is there anything I can rent close to the Moroso or Sebring tracks or are there schools held there with rentals?
Any suggestions would be appreciated, thanks!

Morosso, Sebring, and Homestead are the most popular tracks down here. But I don't know if there are any track events. If you are into AutoX we have Ft. Myers and Hialeah available. Other than that we have indoor gocarts at Speed.
If your just into S driving on regular roads. A1A is always a pleasant drive. Finally, Orlando and Ocala have some nice hilly roads.
State the dates you are coming down and we can check the calenders.

Hialeah. I think the cost is well over 200 dollars, but I read about it in the latest SCCA mag. I know it's not exactly the track, but I want to learn AutoX too, and why not learn from this reputable company while I'm waiting out the winter here?
I can't in good conscience, take a rental Z3 out on a track since the rental agency specifically says not to take it to a tracking event. Doesn't say anything about running around in a parking lot though

Anyone try Phase I and have comments about it?
Time to start looking for a helment (not the most common thing here in Illinois where motorcycle helmets are not required).

Looks like I'm going to have to delay this trip until February 26. Is there a listing of all the motorsport activities in the South Florida area? I see neigher Chin Motorsports or the Evolution School doesn't have anything going on then. Equipe Rapide seems to be having something on the 27th. Hmmm, it's an AutoX, not an AutoX School. I guess I can learn by doing and reading up ahead. Any other suggestions?
Thanks. BTW, it's warmed up close to thawing temperatures today up here in Chicagoland.

Hmmm driving in Miami? Not so nice.. There are a few spots though if you know where to look. Turnpike from NW12th street North to around Red Road after mid night is all but deserted. Not many cops either. Speed limit is 70. you can 80 without much attention. 140 if there are no cops around.
I also recomend A1A around Boca Raton. Beautiful Street and no traffic (at least not when I was there) it runs parallel to the beach and there a lots of nice mansions there. Nice chillin ride.
US27 after "The curve" past Hialeah Gardens (I live right there stop by!
)
The street is called Okeechobee Rd but it becomes US27. Lots of Motorcyle people race there.
Also, the Rickenbaucer (spelling) Causeway bridge is a beautiful spot to see the city from across the bay. It's a nice drive too down through Key Biscane. Go slow though. Cops are militant there!
If it's curves you want? LOL.. tough luck I have yet to find a twisty in the entire city. The only hills you are gonna find are the man made bridges and they arn't steep. Tell me I'm wrong people!
