Walking through the rain (with an umbrella), assuming the rain is coming straight down & not down diagonally due to wind, is my choice to keep you driest.
Oh yeah, raincoat & hat help too!

so you are saying that the natural speed of walking is most suitable for minimizing the contact w/ raindrops?
I think that if you 'run'.. then you 'hit' more raindrops on the forward side of your body..

by 'fast-walking' and leaning forward (head down).. your exposed surface area is the back of your head and neck..
so for me.. optimal speed is a fast walk.. where forward motion is less than the speed necessary to come in contact with on the lateral surface.
is today a long day or what?

A lot of experience here since I'm in outside sales. There is a risk involved with running. Yes you can minimize the amount of rain on you by running, but you can increase the chance of slipping and falling, which then defeats the purpose. Now if the downpour is mild then a steady walking pace is sufficient. If a hard downpour then a steady haul a** approach can be undertaken, pending you have a good soled shoe.
Hope that helps!

BTW:Yes it certainly was a long day, glad it is over!!

I think the faster you run the less time you are in the raing therefore the less wet you'll be by the time your at your porch(or where ever) There might be some truth to what you said warren as far as rain hitting you on the front part of your body because you are more or less crashing into it. I think it all depends where you want to be less wet. Ladies with white shirts I suggest you try warren's way (or not
), and dudes like me with gel in the hair you better haul ass to that shelter!!!!! So now I think it is really all about where you want the water to hit you the most.

You are already getting wet if it's raining. Even if you do run. Point is you aren't going to melt like the wicked witch so just take a stroll and start the "Singing in the rain............."
