Are you JDM?
[quote name='RENDERMAN' date='Mar 27 2007, 05:10 PM'] I'm going to try to summarize my point of view as much as I can. I think it is a lack of tolerance from people that disagree with a point of view or in this case a look. On a happier note I
JDM != Rice. There is American Rice and there is Japanese Rice. JDM companies make the highest quality, best performing, and most thoroughly tested parts for the S2000, that's a fact. If someone wanted to build a race S2000 here in the states, they'd be calling Japan for parts. Just like APC over here in the states though, they also come out with fluff (moneymakers) such as reservoir socks & seat belt pads. The problem lies when people buy JDM rice items and defend them by saying that they can't be ricey because J's Racing (a JDM company) makes them (just using them as an example).
The other problem is that most JDM companies are also race teams, so some of the parts they sell are from their race cars. Items like diffusers, wings, roll cages, steering wheel quick releases, dry carbon parts, etc are for RACE CARS, the ONLY reason to put them on STREET cars is fashion. This is where my problem lies, street cars that look like race cars are phoney but are personal preference so things like wings & diffusers are acceptable based on personal taste. Rollcages, however, are designed with helmets in mind, they are meant to be part of a system to protect a driver in the case of an accident (I'm making a big assumption that these cages are actually built to a spec such as SCCA/FIA standards). Once you take out part of that system (helmet), then the cage can seriously injure the driver (or his hot girlfriend).
With that said, most of the time I just laugh when I see these things on cars but when it's your friends doing it, it strikes a nerve of concern.
See you on the track

On another note, I've said this time and time again:
There is a group of about 10-15 members on here that meet on a REGULAR BASIS. So we DO KNOW each other and know what to say and how to say it. So when Max, Alex, Di, Danny, AJ, Will, Warren, Morgan, Jonathan, Danny, Dariel, Luis, Juan, and me read something on this forum, we know how to take it and how it's meant.
The problem sometimes lies in the fact that the rest of you DO NOT hang out with us at meets and social gatherings and DO NOT know us. So you get all defensive when a flaming comment is made.
Is it our fault? Yes and No.
Should we relax on the comments directed to the people that really don't know us? Yes and No.
Keep this in mind, otherwise the complaining needs to stop. I'm tired of this DRAMA on this forum. When I see another thread like the previous ones we've had, they are getting deleted, not locked, deleted.

Screw you all!!!!
Hey Dario I need some strobes, Im serious!
I do a little for fashion and a little for function. I have a hardcore function guy at home ragging on me all day so I don't need more from S2ki.
This is not about the cars but more about the individual. As long as we can understand each other and accept our differences in taste and not take things the wrong way it should all be fine. I have made mistakes but apologized because I made the effort to reason and understand others.

, same goes for opinions and advise. You gotta expect that there is always gonna be somebody out there who completely disagrees with you and your opinion, so expect them. And if you can't deal with that, dont post.As far as the whole "JDM" thing goes, just do w/e pleases YOU. Thats the only opinion that should really matter to you. Even if it was actually possible to please everyone else in this world (which it's not), YOU would still be unhappy with your car, and thats one of the worst feelings in the world.
Renderman, let the custom begin
what does it matter what the masses think...if its something you love that thats all that matters! exzactly!
i guess people sometimes get offended b/c in a way our car is a reflection/extension of ourselves(our creativity & our dreams) so therefor people can take things personal at times...when they really shouldnt...
