Woah - thanks for all the replies!

Not a dumb subject! I'm trying to get opinions from people who have the car, or driven the car!

The final numbers aren't in yet but somewhere in the neighbourhood of ~$4-5,000 plus my car...

Boosting the car is not an option for two reasons...

1) I've had a boosted car and albeit fun and fast there are lots of headaches associated with it - anyone telling you otherwise is lying, these cars didn't come boosted so I'd be really reluctant to do that to them - but thats just me.

2) I admire the F20 and F22 for their engineering and making 240hp out of a small engine without FI...

I honestly didn't know about the traction control - that kills the fun, dosn't it! Is there a switch where you can turn of it? If there is then its not so bad... Whats wrong with the "clutch valve thing" that sounds like a decent idea to me?

I want to get a tunable ECU as well, basically with the AP1 I'm looking at K-Pro (which I don't want) or an AEM EMS (lots of cash), I like the idea of the FlashPro looks good!

As far as looks go I'm with alot of you guys.. I like the AP1 front bumper, AP2 Headlights, AP1 tails, but I guess I'm the only person that likes the AP1 rear bumper? Exhaust and suspension doesn't matter since I have that currently on my AP1 which would be coming off to put on the new car...

Such a touch decision... Its not like I hate the SSM colour either... Its just not my favourite...

If you were leaving it stock there's really no comparison..... the AP2 has been tweaked with minor things over the 5+ years (since 2004).

I know people love the 9krpm limit (which is nice), but the fact is the AP2 is a better and faster stock for stock on the circuit.

Here come the flames......

Ps I've owned 3 S2k's (one being an AP1) and the AP2 is faster on the track, straight line and has nicer creature comforts.

I think that Japanese car show Best Motoring did the stock test and found the AP2 1 and a bit seconds faster around their circuit. They said it was mostly due to rear tire size. They put Ap2v1 wheels on an AP1 and it was then 1 sec faster if i remember right.

I would also like to know if the traction control can be turned off. Usually it can, but if it cant be turned off then I would probably not get an AP2. Its nice to be able to choose.

I agree with the above as well. Its hard to split them on looks or engine as I like certain things from both AP1 and AP2.

I have that best motoring DVD, the ap1 was still slower but it was faster than its original time with the larger ap2 v1 rims/tires.

The one thing I really don't like about the newer AP2s is the traction control system (which is very obtrusive). You can turn it of, yes..... but it's still there in a small way.

I also don't like the fact how they made it lass raw than the AP1's (feel wise).... I guess catering to the N. American market has its downside for sports cars.

Either way you can't go wrong with any year S2000.

rofl. No internet access lately, just blackberry browsing and quick replies.

If you give me $400 for rear tires Im in, but with my balding tires I cant run to the level you can. Unless someone lets me borrow their AP2.

^Uhh ohh looks like somebody is making statements they can't back up!

Bottom line for the engines is as follows:

Ap2 @ 9k > Ap1 @ 9k > Ap2 @ 8k
