Does it make sense to do that?
Wouldn't it be better just to change the oil when the storage is over before you start the car?
I might sound crazy! I've never stored a car before.

That's what I'm doing (after storage) Pointless before IMO -- it's just sitting in the oil pan.

Oil that has been used in your car before storage becomes acidic due to combustion. Changing it now is the better option.

it's no suprise that my car is also currently sitting with old oil. Crappy tire just had or still has syntec on sale for $31 a jug so that will do. Just have to brave the cold and get it in there

So it's acidic and it's SITTING in your oil pan.

changing it is only changing the oil sitting in the pan. My car is nearly 8 years old, I dropped my oil pan down to change the banjo bolts and it was clean as can be after letting it sit all last winter.

I'm convinced it's a huge waste of time and a pain to do it in the fall before storage. I never start it and I will do a flush in the spring.

 

In the end, its not going to make that big of a difference. I used to swap out the oil, now I just leave it and change it after winter

 

completely agree. It's one of those preventative maintenance things that will never show noticable differences.
