Default Difference between AP1 to AP2 diff?

Anyone happen to know if there is any difference between AP1 and AP2 diff? Will they swap out? Anything I need to change. Just been told the shaft might be different. Anyone?

Thank ya.

The ap2 is the better diff if thats what your compairing. The ap2 diff case has been strengthened and redesigned. A different material was used, FCD (ferro casting) to make it more rigid and helped strengthen the case. And yes the driveshaft and connectors are different than the ap1.

So unless you go with a comptech reinforced differential housing, the ap2 is alright.

Giggity

Thank you sir. So swapping to an AP1 diff with 4.77 isn't as good as my stock AP2 diff, if I was to install the 4.77 into it.
Been in talks of doing this swap, but just found out the diff is AP1 and don't want to "downgrade", if you want to call it that.
So besides the housing being stronger etc, the only other thing involved in a swap would be the flange, which on the AP1 is smaller. hrrmmmmmmm

You cant just swap flanges. There is a bolt on the flange that has to be set up correctly, not just torqued down.

The flange on the transmission can be easily swapped but that means you would have to swap drive shafts with the ap1.

Kick ass, well kinda. Alright thanks very much for the info, I didn't realise there were such differences. Good to know now though before we started the swap.

Thanks All.
