Default Elise looks to be on the way!

I just got a letter from Weissach today with whom I have a deposit.

Lotus Elise updates

Lotus Cars USA and Transport Canada have been working to certify the federal version of the Elise for importation into Canada. There is very strong commitment at both ends and we are pleased to provide the following information.

The bumper issues have been resolved and the outstanding light concern is presently being addressed with a view to having all the papar work completed within 30-40 days. LCU had promised us a car to show all of you so that you can road test the car and pick options, colors, etc., we hope to be able to do this in May and June, deliveries should start best case fall 2005, some cars as 2005 and subsequently 2006 model years. We have been assured that Canada will get priority on deliveries and I am confident that Lotus Cars will be helpful in this matter.

There is more text pertaining to thanking the customers for their patience and to be expecting a call regarding a test drive and confirmation of the order but the above is the text containing the meat of the letter. I had given up hope but Asgar kept telling to be patient so I am glad I've kept my deposit there.
Another car to add to the "must test drive" list.

They've even got a turbo system out for it now. Talk about overkill!

It'd be funny if the Canadian car has a huge Volvo 240 bumper in order to pass our bumper standard. I'm glad they're finally importing these though. They are like the ultimate anti-yuppie car.
