Gas saving tips
I thought this topic was beaten to death but since gas prices have risen, this is a nice reminder and also, I've learned something new. Anyway, does anyone know where I can get nitrogen for my tires

Most of those are lame.
IMO the single biggest thing you can do the save gas is use engine breaking whenever possible. If you see the light changing up ahead, keep (or put ) it in 6th and let it rev all the way down till its ready to stall.
When the wheels are turning your engine it uses no gas.
When I do this, I get an extra 60-70km per tank. Considering how little I get from a tank in the first place, that is a lot of extra clicks.

^agreed....man those points are verrryyy extreme and pretty meh, especially those last 4. im not gonna make my driving life more annoying just for that minute kinda savings. lol yeah no drivethru eh? because it will make THAT much more difference in addition to the 10 red lights i just had to stop/idle at to get to the friggin McD's?! there are much more standard/driving things you could do to improve mileage that would take precedent and show better results than all these points. also, nitrogen in the tires makes baaaarely any difference. finally, driving this car...fuel economy is the last thing i worry about.
8) Park with the hood pointing out. Backing out of a parking spot when the engine is cold takes a lot of effort (and gas). All the jockeying to park with your hood pointing out is done when the engine is warm, so it's easy on fuel.
this is probably the most laughable one.

I see the red light ahead, cruising in 5th, shift down to 4th, 3rd, 2nd and neutral.... This isn't the same as you describe is it?
I rev match when I down shift, so any gas I may be saving while coasting in gear is lost by my blipping the throttle as I down shift, plus when you put the clutch in, it starts feeding gas to idle the engine.
If you want to see gains in your fuel economy leave it in one gear and let it go as long as you can.
