Just go to the US and unlock it.

Love mine, but Rogers feels they can rape me each month for data. My bill last month was in excess of $1200.

You have to not use the browser except with WIFI.

It costs $399 + shipping from the US + taxes charged by UPS + $99 for iPhoneSimFree in USD. We've talked already...

This is what a friend of mine had to say about iPhonesimfree. My friend is one of the principal architects putting out some of the firmware.

"One group iphonesimfree.com claims to have the true unlock solution.
We reverse engineered their code to figure out what they're doing. It
was complicated because they encrypt everything and do the actual unlock
on their server before sending back encrypted data to write back to your
phone. Anyways, it turns out they are relying on a bug in the RSA
encryption routines in the phone to make their hack work. They actually
overwrite a bunch of critical information in your phones seczone with
zero's. Because of the bug this works. The problem is they just blew
away a bunch of highly critical information which is unique to your
phone and impossible to recreate!!! So NEVER EVER use this solution to
unlock (most people have no idea about this and still think it is the
best way to unlock since they charge $70-100)."

$1200 !!!... sheit... What kind of data volumes are you guys using? Rogers has a mobile internet addon you can get 10mb for $10/month.

not enough?

maybe i should hold off on the iphone and just get a surfboard instead.

Your friend is wrong. iPhoneSimFree doesn't overwrite any of the baseband firmware (as opposed to AnySim and free unlocks). It's entirely software and it's proven to be so. I unlocked the phone and used the 1.1.1 software update in only 5 simple steps, no bricking, no problems. iphonesimfree is awesome and the the support is excellent.
