Default Krown Rust Control - Summer Driver

Hey everyone,

I just picked up a 2007, stock, in very good condition. It has 95,000 km. It has almost certainly never seen a winter.

I swear by Krown rust control on my daily drivers.

I'm looking for your thoughts on whether it would be throwing money away to have a summer only car treated with Krown...even if its only every couple of years?

I can see myself hanging on to this car for 5 to 10 years.

Thanks for chiming in.

I do this every year on my Summer only driven 2006. I happen to use rust check or another similar product. I empty a can into all the crevices and holes under the car, wheel wells, nuts and bolts etc. Yes, I am pedantic.

However, I don't want a someone drilling access holes in my s2000 as would likely be the case with Krown applied by them.

Probably not totally needed, but I sprayed my S2000 myself using Rust Check products and a spray gun working off my compressor, almost similar to Krown. I think it is always good to do, but the most prone areas to rusting on the S2000 can't be easily accessed. The rust occurs between the two panels that are spot welded around the rear wheel well arches. Rubberized rocker guard works reallly good around the wheel well arches, after you remove the factory rubber strips.

With my previous Audi I used to tell my local Krown dealer not to drill holes....spray only. So it is an option....but the drilling is more psychological than anything.

I do Rust Check as well and I told them not to drill and they came back and said the holes were already drilled previously. So obviously the previous owner believed in it as well. Also mine is only driven when the weather supports top down and stored Oct. - Apr. in a heated garage.

I just rust proofed my third Honda this week. I got a rust proofing wand from Princess Auto, I use rust check products in the gun/wand and use my compressor to spray the crap out of every accessible nook and cranny. Works great, and I spend more time doing it than most shops would spend.

Sometimes you have to drill to get access to panels that are not normally accessible. Pulling interior panels helps too. My last two Honda project cars I had removed every interior panel to access the interior surface of the outer panels. You'd be surprised how much rust accumulates on the interior surface of the outer panels, that eventually translates into rust-through if left untreated as they rust from the inside out.

Corrosion Free is another product worth checking out. Used it on many Hondas in twenty plus years at the dealership. Any rustproofing is only effective when properly applied.

I've actually removed the trunk panels to then spray those wheel wells seams from inside the car on all my Hondas.

^ great idea Darcy. On my hatchbacks I spray them from the inside too as they are notorious for rusting from the inside out. I do the bottoms of each door too as they will rust at the bottom seams too.
