kuhmo question
I need to get some new tires and I know some of you guys have the kuhmo 712's. Do you guys have the v or w speed rating? The v rating is a little cheaper that the w rating. I was told that the v is good up to 150 mph and the w is beyond 150mph. Does this sound right? Also i was wondering what you guys paid for them. I got a price of about $700 for a set of for. I this a reasonable price? Any help would be appreciated.
I would not use that (the speed rating) as my only measure. What do you plan on doing with the tires? If you are only planning on street driving the 712s may be okay unless you want more grip to play in the corners. If you plan on autoxing and/or tracking...forgetaboutit

BTW, Triple-H's review is quite good, you should read it...

If you have an s2000 then I would not recommend them.
However, if you are an a tight budget and don't care to compromosise certain aspects of handling, cornerning, wet weather driving, etc. etc. then they will get you by until you can afford something better.
I recently went through the tire research and found the kuhmo 712, Dunlop FM901's and Bridgestone RE750 are all entry level tires and of course there is compromise.
I found the closest competitor to the SO2's and SO3's were the Yokohama EVS AV100's. This is a mid level tire.
just my $.02
