Default Laptop Recommandation?

is the Toshiba Satellite Intel Pentium M 760 2.0GHz Laptop (M60-CD7) a good machine?

Or should I build a similar system using ASUS barebone?

They cant figure out the problem.

I've turned down job offers because they didn't supply Thinkpads.

I could tell you the problem of the Toshiba sattellite right now. The problem is the cooling. It will do THERMAL SHUTDOWN when there is not proper ventilation. You will need to open the laptop and clean it, ie one of those duster thingy tat blows compressed air. Then it will stop doing thermal shutdown until... it gets dirty again. If you don't want to tackle the problem of cleaning the inside or afraid of something going wrong. You can let any ruptable computer shop, or for that matter future shop do it. It takes like 5 mins to do. Just tell them it's doing thermal shutdown and you just want to get the inside dust free Hope that helps your brother Ian

That is your call. If the specs are what you need, and the only problem is you having to clean it once every 6 months or so. BTW the internal cleaning will vary depending on where u keep your laptop. ie if you keep your laptop on your bed, for sure you'll have to do it more frequently then a person that keeps their laptop on a desk.

Doesn't crap built up on all laptops?

I am sure the ASUS will collect crap inside as well

Why is the particular system more prone to over heating?
