Default Looking for a Starter - AP1

Hi guys,

My starter is making noise (screeching) when starting it up. I called Honda and OEM is $$$. I called Aero Starter and he doesn't have and never rebuilt one. Any suggestions on where to find one or anyone selling one?

Easy to find a place but looking for personal recommendations on places you may have used personally.

Cheers,

A

My old csx used to do that too. Normally it's only for the first second when starting the car up. I had the starter screech for 2 years until i found a replacement from a wrecked car. I wouldn't worry too much about it, just wait for a wrecked ap1 to come by

My Mazda 6 gives the old starter screech every once and a while. I'm dumping that piece in a month or so when I'm back in Ontario permanently. I don't worry about it really. It's kind of an embarrassing screech but I would also wait for a wrecked S2000 before replacing

The last time I washed my engine bay, the starter stopped making the screeching noise for a couple of seasons, but now its back again. I'm going to try blowing some compressed air and use some contact cleaner on the starter. Its not fun to remove the intake manifold so I'm trying to avoid replacing the starter if I don't have to

I don't want to get stuck with the car not starting and I'm currently doing some engine work so may as well do it all at the same time. It's been screeching for two years now.

I found a rebuilt OEM for $95.00. My friend is in the auto parts business and was able to get me one at his cost. Cant go wrong at that price. OEM at RoadSport Honda is $742.00 plus tax.

Thanks to all for your input and suggestions.
