Question

When the car is imported from the states is the car value the same as a Canadian car? Or is it worth less? So say if both cars are the same year and almost the same Km..but the diff is one is Canadian and the other is from the state or would this make no diff at all??

it's not like its a different car. If they were both out of warranty, I would say that a US car (southern US car) would be worth more because it hasn't seen winters and a much nicer climate. But newer imported cars (like my own) are worth less because they don't have a warranty.

but I dare you to try and differentiate an american s2k vs a canadian one if the visors have been changed or even removed... it's impossible.

The only reason it might be "worth" less is because usually the buyer knows that the seller paid much less for the car by buying it in US.

I agree... but it's also known that importing a car from the usa is a hassle with many unexpected expenses. Not to mention plane tickets, hotels... time off work etc...

If someone thinks an asking price of an s2k is too high because it's an american car, then go import one yourself. Also with american s2k's, you can get "rare USA only colours for particular years" like me :)

When I was test driving them here in Ontario, I went to Canadian Auto Associates in guelph, and test drove a silverstone my06. After the drive, the salesman was trying to sell me a warranty as well... I was like... wtf? This car is less than 1 year old, there is no warranty? him > no, this is an american car that was imported. It had 4600km's and then wanted 42,500.

The VIN - I believe it's the 5th or 6th last number that will tell you. ;)

Hahah if you don't know what you're talking about then why do you say it? :thinker:

I could only find an 06 VIN breakdown but you get the point.

The last 6 digits is the SEQUENTIAL PRODUCTION NUMBER. All CDN Hondas start with an 8.

So how much do you dare me to tell the difference?
