Default RX8

Hey everyone, have any of you ever owned a RX8 and if yes, would you recommend it? Are the engines really that big of a nuisance?

I think its an ugly car, buy your self a mazdaspeed 3, then you can have utility and still be way faster than a stock s2000 and RX8

I wouldnt, but I dont know much about them either so I couldnt make an educated choice. However, when I was at Mosport DDT there was an rx8 there. Every time he came off the track, his check engine light was on. By 1pm, he went home cause the check engine light would not go off. I didnt take that as a good sign =/

I've heard the same. Nightmare after nightmare with the engines and it seems to be a consensus that the problems are amplified the colder it gets outside. These cars definetly weren't made to last Canadian climates.

Still...I've seen a modified RX8 keep up with a GTR nose to tail at Cayuga.

I love RX8's. Sounds great, handles great, looks great (to me). Other than the engine flooding problems in cold, they are also gutless... and I mean gutless! Incredibly slow LOL!

Underpowered. They consume oil like water and the fuel economy is dismal.

That said.. they're really cheap to pick up used. I think the later years the engine reliability was improved.

The suicide door has some appeal for me, the form is so-so for me but I'm told they handle beautifully.

A friend of mine is doing one as a project for Modified Magazine. With some proper attention they can be rather competitive at the grassroots level.

But the oil/fuel consumption, for me, is almost a deal breaker, especially if it's going to be daily driven.

But when they work, they seem to work really well. FWIW, Top Gear loved the car.

Don't do it, those cars are nightmare, they are only good when they are new to 2 years old, max 3. other then that you will be going to be changing, coils and plugs, CAT or engine like no tomorrow. Trust me!. don't buy it. lol

It's like going on an RX8 forum and asking about the s2000. How many people will have good comments. But I have heard of the oil/gas consumption issues.
