Default S2000

Okay so this will be my first S2000 that I am going to buy and I just wanted some people's opinion on this car what they think of it and is it worth it. I also noticed that the door skins are not 2 tone yet the car's interior is black and red? anyway here's the link let me know what you think

I did a quick search on www.vmrcanada.com for the retail value of a 2008 S2000 and it shows it to be roughly 24,900 CAD. Now the values are largely skewed and don't account for the going market price, colour, etc.. however the price of that S seems a bit inflated. I personally wouldn't pay over 27,000 taxes in for it, but then again, white on red is a rare combo.

The interior isn't two tone, it is just red. Two tone refers to black seats with red inserts, and the red door inserts you are looking for. Overall the car looks good, and it being so new, I would highly doubt it has anything wrong with it at all. Good luck!

those seats are red faced and black back/side, they are the correct seats for black-red interior in the 08-09

There was no all red interior available in AP2 AFAIK, the black-red interior changed a few times through the years. For example some black-red AP1s had all red seats, black-red in AP2s didn't

On the other hand, the door panels are missing the red inserts

i think that's a good price actually

for the person above who posted that VMR says it's worth 25 ---> I have never seen a 2008 for 25k ever.

That car however has been in an accident

oops. Guess my knowledge of the S2000 leaves a little to be desired. I thought I saw somewhere two tone with the red inserts on the doors and seats came in some AP2 models (I believe it was 2004/2005 for the silverstone colour option? I could be wrong though).

vmr reports seem to neglect a lot of criteria when they run their values. I think as far as accuracy of the price is concerned, they are pretty good for cars like the civics, corolla's, etc... With sports cars and luxury cars that go more on demand and market value, their pricing falls a little short for sure. When I signed the papers for my S I didn't check the vin stickers on the trunk and sides...now you have me worried. lol...

My 2007 GPW has red inserts on the seats and red inserts on the door. If I am not mistaken in 08-09 since the seats are all red you get black doors and not 2 tone. I'm not sure if there was a 2 tone option, but for sure the all black doors are a factory thing so no worries there.

Now, as mentioned above, you almost never see a 2008 under $27,000 in Canada unless there are things wrong with it (especially GPW and Pearl white). The price is pretty much expected, although like most I would be trying to get it cheaper. I still see 09's for around $33,000 depending ok KM.

The thing about that car is either something happened to it or the owner liked the "shaved" look because all emblems and badges except for the front H are gone. That means paintwork... and for me that is a deal breaker. But thats me.

I went and looked at this car on Saturday.

The car was imported from the USA. New Jersey, I believe. I have a copy of the CARFAX if you want it. One accident reported which based on the missing VIN# from the rear bumper and trunk lid, tells me it was hit from behind.

There is a fairly large chunk out of the paint of the drivers side front fender (behind where the missing S2000 badge should be) and many light scratches randomly all over the car. I'm told these were the result of shipping. Most should just buff out.

Also, the drivers seat seems more worn than a car with 30,000 km should be, but perhaps they don't wear well.

Given that it's imported, and has an accident on record which the dealer doesn't seem to know the extent of, I would say $25,000 is fair to above fair value. Average asking price in the USA (Dealer + Private) for 2008 with similar miles is around $26,500. Factor in the accident, our dollar, and the ease a Honda Dealer has importing one and I wouldn't pay too much.

Perhaps if someone knows the extent of the damage it may become more worth it. As with everything, go see for yourself and drive it. It's in the showroom, so call ahead if you plan to drive.
