While in the bike shop last week picking up a new brake light switch for my 19 year old bike (yes, the part was in stock when I called) I was amazed to see these two new Hondas. I'm not so sure I agree they should be called Sport Bikes. I see their capabilities, but the open engine and their amazingly upright seating position and both the salesman and I agreed, they are much more like a "standard" than a "sport bike". Overall very nice bikes in my opinion.

599

919

But then again my ultimate bike is considered a "sport bike" and yet I always think of it as a "sport touring" bike. And no, I would never get it in black, it would have to be red...

the 599 is supposedly the best selling bike in Europe right now.
It would be cheap on insurance here too since it's below the 600 cc cut off, correct?

Easy for you to say now, but when something pops out at you and you over react it will be your only concern...

I can see why, I was rather impressed with it when I sat on it. I tried to dind a pic of the instrument cluster of the 919 though. Any of us S2000 owners would flip out if we saw it...
Trust me, it looks a lot like this.

As far as insurance, what's up with that? Is bike insurance a lot up there? I pay less than $100 USD for 9-months of coverage on the 650 that allows me to ride the bike anytime I want for a whole year.

Here is the bike I lust for...
The V4 has high revs and torque, and that single sidearm suspension is just plain beautiful.

Yamaha makes a similar bike for this niche. It is based on the R6, but much tamer. Called the FZ6. Worth a look for under $9000 new.

Damn you Doug....

That 599 looks just cool enough to follow up on.
