[I]Briatore plans to quit next year
Renault boss has no plans to stay beyond 2005
Renault boss Flavio Briatore has said that he has no intention of carrying on with the French car manufacturer beyond the end of next season
doesn't surprise me.. as Flav is not well liked with the Renault upper brass. He changed many things when he returned years back, right down to implementing a stringent dress code for the staff at the factory.. This guy meant business, but never got the proper support from the upper brass. What they don't like is how quickly with minimal testing Flav implements aerodynamic changes to the car. He is more risk taken than other team principles. So that is why we've seen more experimental wings, gills, slots on the renault chassis than on any car. Flav likes his engineer's to be creative, however it appears no more.. :-(
I know Toyota have been trying to secure his services for some time now, and they may make him an offer since Gascoyne went there.. They were thinking of hiring Gerhard Berger as he help turned BMW around with that development program. Toyota if they do so, are close.. i mean really close to having all the right cards , but they need MANAGEMENT so dearly..
But it will be the demise of Renault should Flav leave imho.. :-(

Good reply Simon, thx!
I too have to agree, Renault could be in serious trouble when Flavio is gone. As Toyota has shown us, big money and a powerful engine are just not enough to get the job done nowadays. So often it all comes down to the team principle, are they really able to creat that team spirit, or are they just a manager.
Jean Todt creates the environment of team, David Richards on the other hand
