scroll down to the last 2 pages..... if i wasn't already committed, i wouldn't do it. |
Nimesh, why US customs would give you trouble? Exporting a car should be a straightforward process...
|
not if you don't "own" it (i.e. no title/ownership document)......
it could be construed as smuggling/stealing something that does not belong to you. |

getting an MCO/MSO....which i now have.
|
What is a MCO/MSO, a temp title?
|
Manufacturer's Certificate of Origin.
commonly referred to as an MSO - Manfacturer's Statement of Origin. basically states all the pertinent details of the car (VIN, Make, Model, Colour, Style, Shipping Weight, Cylinders, Power, Purchasing Dealer, AHM invoice # relative to Honda Japan, and most importantly, whether or not is permissable for sale in the US....there's also a certificate serial number. basically, this is the vehicle's "birth certificate". mine says "certified for sale in all 50 states". btw, the MCO lists the shipping weight at 2771 pounds....that's lighter than any other reported stock weight that i've ever seen on these boards.....usually it's in the 2800-2900 range. |
So what's the hold up Nimesh? Sounds like you have all your paperwork lined up...the US border just giving you a hard time?

did you own the corrado already??
|
No. I bought it in Mass. We drove from the dealer down to the DMV. They took a copy of my Ontario license, I showed them the sales paperwork, I paid the registration fee, they handed me title, registration and plates.
The salesman was with us and the process was painless. |
how did you get ontario plates at a mass. DMV??????????
|
He got mass plates ya ass
|
ok, now i get it.....
so, you bought the car at a mass. dealer for use in mass. the dealer "charged" you (or would have charged) the required state tax (which i think may actually be zero in mass.). you used the car down there....and eventualy brought it to canada. well, there's the difference, you idiot....you already titled the car for use in the states. if you did the same thing, in say NY, you would have paid state tax down there when you went to register it (private sale) or the dealer would have charged you for it when you bought it from them. |
Dude,
I never said I got out of paying taxes on it! I simply said they let me register the car in Mass with Mass plates using an Ontario drivers license. Read what I :spam:ing write you dumbass! ;) |
alright, alright......you don't have to resort to swearing.
didn't your parents teach you ANYTHING???? jeez......so sensitive......just like a chick. you need a good, strong man to help you overcome that.......vince?? |

No. |
Dude, it's irrelevant. My first post was this:
Nimesh, when I bought the Corrado, Massachussetts had no problems with my Ontario drivers license. Not sure if the laws have changed since then, but at the time you did NOT need a US license. You still get hosed on the tax, though. |

Thereby correcting your assumption that you need a US driver's license to buy a car in the States. |
Nimesh, since you are becoming the expert on this subject, would there be as much difficulty buying a used Canadian car and bringing it to the states? Private sale, no dealer.
|
al, i don't know the US import rules......
|
Al, I don't think its a big deal bringing in a used car at all.
Most of the highend dealers in the city do it all the time. Hell I think even Afa shipped a car or two. Most dealers of higher end or high demand cars make you sign a waiver here to block you from flipping a car within a given time period. If you do it after 6 months or a year whatever the stip is then its your game. Why whatcha want a Mini? |
i signed a 3-year declaration on the audi and a 2 year declaration on the benz.

Yes yes I am.
Probably the same thing that you are...ass |
yeah, but i'm not actually "saving" for it......it'll just happen in the course of life.
|
Well neither am I really....but I like to have something left over afterwards.
Why you gotta hate on the thrifty brother? |
