Default Speeding Tickets

Some of you may remember my recent relief when I got off my speeding ticket that I received in Muskoka that I shouldn't have received. Well I called today to ask about the court date for another ticket that I had received in Toronto (pre-my S2K days) and apparently it was "withdrawn."

What the hell does that mean? Apparently I am off the hook!

I know I'm not really painting myself in the best light here, but now I've just got onnnnne last ticket that I got also before my S2K days in a speed trap on the way to my office so we'll see how that goes! I've gotta reschedule though because I'm supposed to go to Calgary on the 12th of March and the court date is the 14th.

Any tips for 85 in a 60?

If your life was a novel, it would be in the $0.25 bin

Well sadly this place is more like the food bank donation bin at the door these days...

I'm all you've got.

Hey Mike,

I've never had a speeding ticket in any of my sports cars and have had a clean record for at least 6 years.

Unfortunately, I got a ticket in my truck in October and it is looking like that one is going to get withdrawn as well. It was a particularly unpleasant officer from York Region. Not enough JOP to cover court!!!

In my experience if you are going to get pulled over make sure it is a Durham officer. I've been pulled over twice from Durham officers (as a passenger) and both times the officers gave the drivers options on what tickets they would like. My friend got one for not having his insurance papers (not for his 35km/h over) and my dad got one for not having his licence (not for 30 km/h over). Sure they got $100 plus dollar tickets, but nothing that will go against their driver abstract!!! The officers were both super-friendly and didn't mind helping out!!!! to the friendly Durham Regional Police Department

I have actually considered joining the police force down the road for a change of pace (must get eyes fixed first). If I get into that line of work I don't think I'll have to worry about speeding tickets any longer!

Adios,
Adam

Thanks for the tip! This one was a speed trap on the way to work after getting off of the highway where it was deeeeeead stopped. The road is actually a divided 4 lane road and I was under the impression it actually was an 80km/h. Funny thing is my insurance slip had expired 2 days before and he gave me a ticket for that too. I'm not concerned about that one cause I have proof of insurance coverage, alls I think I can hope for is no cop showing up since I have to reschedule cause I'm probably gonna be in Calgary. If he does, perhaps appeal to their tender side telling them I don't have any speeding convictions on my record, and that it's not a road I am familiar with or have ever taken. Please please please don't make me pay. Won't work tho

Have you requested full disclosure? You should request this when you ask for a trial date!

If you did and didn't receive it (they never send it) you can request for a retrial because you need time to look over the facts (they will probably have it in court). Delay.

If it is delayed you can request it be thrown out because you weren't given a trial in a timely fashion (I believe that is under the Charter).

If you were tagged using a police car's speedo you can ask for documentation on when the speedo was last calibrated.

There is a huge list on the internet. Just don't lie and go in with an understanding of your rights, and how to represent yourself best.

Haven't you moved away yet? Go and tarnish those Prairie Flatliners and leave us be.

Meh haven't moved yet. Gonna work from Toronto for a little longer, going out for a couple weeks on the 12th. Decided it's not cold enough here again.
