Storage question
This year I'm gonna store my car like some of you guy's and leave the car on the ground instead of on jack stands. My question is, What gear do you leave the car in? I believe the manual say's reverve. I've 2" foam to park it on but I'll have to wait until christmas to inflate the tires.
Oh yeah, Is 50 psi sutible to inflate the tires for storage. Thanks for your imput fella's.

Some say 40 others say 60 if you have the foam you dont run the risk of warping the tires so I could only assume that 50psi would be enough.
Remember not to latch your soft top!
And whoever said they leave the windows down, sorry but thats one thing I wouldnt do.
To prevent moisture from making contact with the bottom of the car you could always throw a tarp or some sort of sheeting down on the ground under your car then use the foam, just an additional measure. Did you pull your seals yet for the rear wheel well?

Manual says reverse, and leave one window down a CRACK not all the way down, it's to prevent moisture in the car.
I put a tarp down and just parked the car, with steel belt stires you aren't going to warp them (flat spot). Hell my father had his mustang sitting in the garage for 10 years straight. Just parked it and thats all.
Of course don't forget fuel stabilizer or the gas will go to crap.

What's the purpose of unlacthing the top? What seals in the rear wheel well you talking about?
I've read numerous threads on people's procedure's of storing cars. It's seems like everyone does something a little different.

Oh and on the rear wheel well lips you will find a rubber grommet (for lack of a better word). I believe this is what they are talking about. I remove mine and clean it, make sure the metal is dry before replacing it.

I do the 45psi in the tires and the car placed onto the 1" thick foam board insulation. The extra 1" of height allows more of air circulation under the car.
Here is my basic list
- clean, wash, wax
- totally clean out interior, nothing left behind
- vacume carpet and get it totally clean
- condition all the leather and protect all interior vinyl
- fuel stabilizer added
- oil change with new filter
- top off all other fluids under hood
- park car on vinyl flooring or tarp to keep moisture from coming up through concrete
- shift car into reverse, leave the e-brake off
- mouse traps set on garage floor with peanut butter
- find the stereo code, write it down and place into cup holder
- remove battery and don't start car till spring
- jack each tire up, place 1" thick foam board insulation under and let tire down
- stuff rag into air intake and exhaust pipes
- soft-top up but not latched
- windows down about 1/2 way
