Default temp permit bs

so i was lazy and didn't renew my plates on time cuz i was busy with other crap and now i want to drive my car but first need to get a 10 day cuz i'm too much of a pansy to drive without valid insurance to get an e-test done

now on the website it says:

To apply for a trip permit, take the following items to any ServiceOntario Driver and Vehicle Licence Issuing Office:

The original fit vehicle permit;
If the permit is not registered in your name ensure that the back of the permit is completed and signed by the previous owner, (a Bill of Sale can be used for supporting documentation from the person named on the permit);
Used Vehicle Information Package (if a private sale)
Name of your insurance company and policy number for the vehicle that you are registering; and
Existing plates (if available) along with the plate portion of the vehicle permit.

---

wtf is all this crap, what exactly do i need to bring?! the car is under my dad's name.
i'm assuming i just need the insurance company/policy #, $$, and car's registration?!

thanks in advanced for any info

You would have to go with your dad (they made me do it like this) and he has to get the temps.
Bring your title and insurance slip/policy number.

Yup, you need the car title owner to come in person. I tried to plate my wife's IS250 without her and they told me to go home.

- bring ownership slips (green ones)
- valid temp insurance (fax from your provider)
- driver's license
- you will have to buy a temp plate sticker (red T) and affix to your plate
- drive to e-test and get certificate
- go back to MTO and get new plate stickers and probably new permit slips

Real rip off. If you want, I can give you my T sticker since I did not bother applying it for only one day's use.

that is some serious crock of crap. my dad's in BC right now handling some stuff lol

thanks a lot for the offer mon. quick q, if i take ur T sticker and affix it to my plates. is this legal/illegal?! since it was registered by you originally. like if i were to get into an accident, would my coverage be void? my insurance is activated already, everything legit.

The other alternative is to get it flat bed'ed to the etest place, then go get the plate renewed. Affix sticker and drive it home.

Your Dad doesn't have to be there to get the plate renewed, just to sign the forms for a temp permit. If you don't get a temp permit....

Yes, this is illegal and your insurance company will bend you over if anything happened.

I think a power of attorney from your dad is OK too. Just call the MTO to confirm.
