Test Pipes..
So my 70mm Toda exhaust just came in. I'm in no rush to get it installed since my car is put away for the winter.
So now I'm on the fence between a test pipe and a high flow cat.
I'm not concerned about the CEL issues. What I am worried of is getting pulled over due to the smells it would be putting out. So that'd where a high flow cat would come in I guess.
For you guys who are running test pipes, any issues?
Should I just stay on the safe side and get the Berk high flow cat?

according to berk the flow difference between a hfc and test pipe is small. If your going for 70mm your probably looking for all the performance you can get. I have never heard of anyone getting pulled for a test pipe, however if the officer knows what to look/smell for its easy to find. Just curious what would have with a testpipe at a mto spotcheck? (which are far and few between)
Are you going to get a defouler or run it with a CEL? how are you going to see if you have a cel?

If I do get a test pipe, I have a scanner tool for CEL. As for getting around the CEL... I may look into resistors to change the voltage. Make it think its leaner than it is.
So far I'm leaning on a high flow cat though.

I am surprised more people don't get pulled over for test pipes, if you are ever driving behind one it is so obvious who is not running a cat. converter, I've got to think that cops just don't care unless you piss them off by street racing or speeding in general and then they go looking for anything they can. I spent a day driving behind a few catless S2000's and the smell is obvious - like a dozen lawnmowers in front of you, lol.

Yea I think it's pretty easy to notice a catless car.
I remember following a couple catless cars during our niagara meet and it gave me one heck of a headache.

I now there are plenty of portable meters out there. I'm sure there are some cops out there who have access to some.
I have a combustion analizer that can read exhaust gases.
