Visiting Toronto!
Toronto S2000 brothers and sisters!
I'll be visiting your fine city the 23rd - 27th of October! A couple of those days are for business (visiting our corporate office "Fairmont Hotels and Resorts") and the weekend was for pleasure. I was wondering what spots I should visit and what I should do for nightlife?
Unfortunatly I won't be driving the "S" from Chicago....which is totally do-able....but I'm going to fly so that I can make the most of the trip.
Some friends are driving up for the weekend and staying with me at the Royal York Hotel.
I'm looking for stuff to do basically and would like to hit the places I should not miss while out here. Also restaurant recommendations would be nice too!
Thanks...
Laird

Tons to do here. Do a search in our forum, cause somebody just asked this question like 2 weeks ago and there were a bunch of good suggestions given.
Hopefully we can organize an S2k dinner or something then, but knowing us, don't count on it.

Good restaurants close to the Royal York are:
Sushi: Nami on Adelaide, or Takesushi on Front at Yonge is OK
Just plain good food -Oro on Elm St, Far Niente at Bay and Wellington is good. I like ACQUA on Front St. (BCE Place, but some find it too trendy).
One of the best spots I have found is BRAVI on Wellington near Church Street. Its fairly unknown, but has excellent food and a good wine list if you like that...
If you dont mind grabbing a cab, Sovignon at Woodbine and Queen East is also excellent with an outstanding wine list...Doesnt look like much from the outside, but awesome food.
If your looking for a great view and a good place for a few drinks, CANOE ontop of the TD tower (54th floor) is great. Food is good (not outstanding) there, but it can get pricey. GREAT for drinks though, the view is outstanding.
I would make reservations where ever you choose to go...

If you like Japanese food, or want to try,
Visit
Mikado Japanese Resturant
114 Laird Dr
East York, ON M4G3V3
Phone: (416) 421-6016
They serve traditional Japanese food. And the settings is unique, where you sit on Tatami's. They have 4 tables in the back room and 3 tables in the front with a sushi bar.
Call them up and make reservation for back room if you have a large party!
I was unable to attach a map for directions,
but please do try using
www.toronto.com
They have great reviews on resturants/night life etc.. etc..
The S2K/Toronto group should try a year-end party there

I travel to Toronto for weekends several times a year and I have found over and over the toronto.com web site it the most resourceful thing going.

Another great source of things happening in the city is www.49st.com
Sure there are tons of clubs in the city but this is one way to find new things going to instead of going to the same spot over and over again. (not a problem for visitors but as a local, I used to find myself in the occassional rut)
