Default What would you do ???

So my g/f was offered the job. But I find it's

Her EI is good for 8 more months, the job is a filler job for someone on vacation. It will only be for 5 months.

It will pay $30 a week LESS than her EI payments, although not much, this would mean when the job is done and she applies for EI again she will get only 55% of her "new" salary which about 50% lower than what she was making.

I'm not sure how long after she finishes this new job she would be able to collect EI for, I am guessing it would be the remainder of what she has leftover from this time + some % of the amount she worked over the 5 months.

The hours are kind of wanky and would require her to bus it ($70 a month for bus pass), and she would work weekend

Would you take the job, or sit on your A$$ all day collecting EI??

Choice #2 + what pink s2k guy said.

Makes no sense to do work for something that makes less than her current EI is now.

That's what I thought, just making sure I wasn't thinking wrong.

I told her that basically WAIT, forget this job and something better will show up.

unless that job she is taking will contribute a long term employment... otherwise.. it's not worth it...

if she is those type of girls who would get bored sitting around and wanna work to feel productive.. tell her to clean up your place on a daily basis...

You can still collect EI and work at the same time. You just don't get as much EI per month.

Just call the EI office and find out.

Considering the circumstances I would NOT take the job.. Collect more EI while staying home and looking for something better.
