I have been using one of the circular sanded stainless knobs for about 2 weeks, and i am definitely a fan. The height and substantial weight really smooth out the shifts and give the shifter an even more solid feel. The circular sanded really looks good too- better than the pearl aluminum voodoo I switched from. I won't be going back...

Classy and functional

ans2k 12-13-2009 12:57 PM

HEY!!

I didn't realize you changed you user name. Yes, i can vouch for this guy!!!! Not only is this guy is a great seller but his knobs are fantastic. The finishes are great. I bought one of his prototype in gloss back. i was impressed at how good the finish was. Before the this shift knob, i had rick's shift knob. Not to bash on risks2k, great seller too, but, i wasn't too happy with the way it felt when i shifted and i wasn't ready to through down $120 for a different knob.

When, Moddiction, formally 2003s2k2003, told me what he was up to. i thought i would give it a go. When i got a little box in the mail, it was pretty heavy for a little box. I thought he must have put a lot of stuffing to package it. When i opened it, there wasn't that much stuffing at all, it was package well just not as much as i thought it would be for the weight. I picked up the knob aand boy i said "Dear God!!" it was a lot heavier that i anticipated. i soon when to my car, and slapped that fatass boy on. i was very surprise, how low it sat on the shifter. I also bought a modified short shifter from Moddiction. With the short shifter and the vodoo, there was a limit to how low it could sit because at the end of the threads, the shifter's diameter becomes much larger. With Moddiction's knob, i was able to let the knob sit as low as possible.

Compared to the stock, vodoo, and Moddiction. Moddiction is alot smother because of the weight and inertia. But with the height the oem is easiest to shift. Vodoo and Moddiction both felt more direct than than oem, BUT the vodoo felt evry time you shift it would feel clunky, i do change my transmission fluid often. Moddiction made it feel direct into each gear and made it smooth. Also, I love that low-sitting look. Also, i bought this in he summer. In Arkansas, the temperature can get very hot. With the oem and vodoo, my hands could get burns just from touching it. Moddiction's knob didn't feel bad to touch, to me it was bearable. It is not titanium, but is a lot more bearab;e that oem and vodoo.

Conclusion: It is a Knob that will give you confidence shifting to any gear with a smooth feel. For the price you get a good looking finish, and a heavy weight knob that won't bust your balls (unless you drop it) and is half the price of a M1 Abrams, but with the same feel.

p.s. I saw this thread but I didn't open it. I thought is was a different guy. I felt bad because i knew you had this idea and now someone stole it. But all is well. Good luck with everything!

Moddiction 12-13-2009 01:37 PM

Awesome. Thanks for the review!! Yeah kinda wanted to keep my old name but made more sense to change it to a more appropriate name for selling.

S_special 12-13-2009 05:15 PM

not to hate but you should really redesign your ad banner.

Moddiction 12-13-2009 06:53 PM

Hahah well it was made like that to attract attention with all the wild colors lol.

ans2k 12-13-2009 07:41 PM

IT GOT MY ATTENTION!

R Legend 12-14-2009 06:13 AM

I can't wait to get mine. :D

Anyone have any installed pics of the satin black?

Moddiction 12-14-2009 12:02 PM

All brushed finished ones shipped out today.

I have a picture of a wrinkle black one I had a while ago. A little different than the textured satin though. I'll see if I can find the picture somewhere.

I'm curious...I was thinking about putting a shift pattern on my Rick's shift knob that I have already. Would you be able to do that?

Moddiction 12-15-2009 07:35 AM

I will be able to shortly. With the shift pattern it will not be countersunk as it will use a lock nut which I supply with each purchase already anyways.
Hopefully I will have engraving shortly.

R Legend 12-15-2009 05:47 PM

Shift knob was in the mail today. Talk about fast shipping! The knob feels
AMAZING!

Moddiction 12-15-2009 06:03 PM

Sweet glad you got it in. It really does make the shifter feel awesome. Soo much smoother on mine with it. Could never go back to a lighter weight knob.

orangebarius 12-16-2009 12:23 PM

 for ryan. we all know him personally in ny metro. maybe ill have to upgrade my voodoo to this soon. ill let you know. let me know when you're back up north so i can check one out at a meet.

Rdragon 12-16-2009 02:30 PM

can you do a custom simple engraving on the knob?

Moddiction 12-16-2009 02:33 PM

Possibly if you supply the autocad or similar file. But at the moment I am not really offering engraving. I hope to shortly.

Rdragon 12-16-2009 03:26 PM

ah ok gotcha well ill grab one from ya asap
btw anyone know a good short stem shifter?

Moddiction 12-16-2009 03:28 PM

I used to modify an ebay one which felt great really but I don't want to really put my name on it since it is an ebay item and all.
They sell them for cheap on there which are C's style ones.
It needs some mods to make it plug and play. If you bought one I could do all of it for you if interested but don't want to supply the short shifter.
I could cut some off the the lever as well so it would sit super low with one of my shift knobs.

Rdragon 12-16-2009 04:31 PM

did you have any problems with the ebay one? is it...reliable?

irv_usc 12-17-2009 09:19 AM

price shipped to 92808 please.

gdub 12-17-2009 10:09 AM

awesome! i've been trying to look for a decent quality/design for a stainless steel knob for quite awhile now. do you know when exactly you will offer engraving? I would love to get shift pattern engraved on it if it is not too much extra. Please PM me some final costs to 98004

Thanks.

Moddiction 12-19-2009 04:48 PM

Hey I will keep them at this price at least through end of December. Regular price will be $59.99 but since I'm a new vendor starting out at this price.

S_special 12-25-2009 01:25 PM

nice new banner :)

Sarek 12-25-2009 06:59 PM

just curious how is the black (gloss) applied? Is it similar to the "gun Bluing?"

Sarek 12-25-2009 07:00 PM

"anvil" perfect name for this

Moddiction 12-25-2009 08:23 PM

No the gloss black is a powder coating.
I am working on a finish similar to gun blue.
Gun bluing doesn't work on stainless steel since it's stainless lol.
But I bought some new chemical that does work but haven't perfected it yet.

Sarek 12-26-2009 11:50 AM

 I know that we used "nital etching" acid for to check for burns on metal at my father's Machine shop. It would turn it a nice black, but I don't know how long it would stay that way.

I would be very interested if you can get it "blue'd" Keep us posted!

Moddiction 12-26-2009 12:19 PM

Yeah I got it to turn black nice but need to order another acid to use before that chemical as it needs to remove the surface before blackening I guess.
Had one plated with a clear alloy that looked awesome but it wore off so couldn't use that finish unfortunately.

Rinaudo 12-27-2009 06:01 PM

Just ordered one. Can't wait!

EVAN&MONICA 12-28-2009 09:37 AM

 I like the sound of blue  anyone have an exact measurement of how much lower this sits then stock? I'd guess 10-15mm, but has anyone measured exactly?

Moddiction 12-28-2009 10:25 AM

I have a samples almost done in gloss red and blue powder coat just for kicks. Don't know how it would look really but was curious.

Sarek 12-28-2009 03:40 PM

looking forward to all these cool new finishes!

JoeyBalls 12-28-2009 03:54 PM

Bump for a good guy, Im not an expert, but I would be more than willing to take some photographs for ya

Moddiction 12-30-2009 12:12 PM

Sweet thanks man. If or when I move back to NY and I don't have any yet I might take you up on that.

EVAN&MONICA 12-30-2009 12:55 PM

Any chance the blue could look like this?

http://i15.photobucket.com/albums/a3...3042009185.jpg

If so I would like be put on a waitlist :D

Moddiction 12-30-2009 12:57 PM

Well that is titanium burnt finish.
I am planning to have a sample order of 5 or so for titanium done and then I will try burning them and see what I can get the finish to look like. Titanium is expensive stuff though so they will not be nearly as inexpensive as the ones I currently offer.
