Carbon Fiber Oxidation
Hey everyone,
Quick question and hopefully an easy and inexpensive answer is to follow. I have an OEM Carbon Fiber hood on my S and lately it have begun to get a white haze on it. I tried applying a nice wax coat, buffing, the whole shebang and nothing that lasted. It's not the clear coat peeling (or I believe it isn't) because when it's wet it looks brand new.
Does anyone know any remedies to clear oxidation from CF? Is it anything like removing the oxidation from headlights? If it's not something I can do at home, any suggestions on who to go to in the Tampa/Land O/Lutz area that can diagnose and hopefully fix my problem?
Thanks everyone in advanced for your input!

unfortunately you have compromised the gel coat of the CF hood.
you can try to buff it or some say to sand and clear coat it...but you are dealing with a gel coat which is more like a boat hull than a painted car part.
I have not seen a quick fix that has proven itself to be effective over time.
I suggest talking to boat repair people and see what they say...or....and you are going to hate this....paint it to match the car.....
yours is OEM style so suggesting to tape off any scoops or vents and then painting it a color would not make sense...I have seen many people do this with otehr vented style CF hoods and it saves the hood because they can still show the CF.....
