Don't be fooled!
I just finished swapping my top...frame and all...with a MY2003 I bought from a member here on S2ki. I did some research on the procedure prior to the swap and was confident I could get it done in a timely manner (3 hrs or less). Trust me, that's not happening. Everything from the seats back have to come out and there is no way to do this by yourself as far as removing the old top and placing in the new one. Luckily I have the service manual which helped someone but you have to pay attention to what it says. There's two pages in it that tell you step by step what to do, but what caught me off guard was you'd get through a few steps and then it would tell you need to have say the roll hoop plastic or the center console removed because other parts that need to be removed are under or behind them. I broke all kinds of clips, lost countless screws and bolts in the process...but the important part is the new top is in and done. Now I have a glass window and no rips or tears!
I will pay someone before I do something like this again. But if you're feeling froggy and have questions about how its done, I'll do my best to answer them.
My next car will be bigger then this I swear.

clock hours is like 9-12 at the dealership for replacing tops. I am assuming that means new softy on an old frame but even replacing the complete works like you did must be in the range of 6-9 hours.
good for you for trying something new and daring. I will most likely recruit todd and the sasquatch to replace mine one day.

I'm thinking about pulling the top and the motors out....how much less of a pain in the ass would you say it would have been if you weren't putting a new top in? When you had everything striped out, did you have access to the top motors?
