Arrow Everytime he goes out of town...........

Hello Everyone!

Melissa here. Well it seems that everytime my husband goes out of town I have some sort of automotive problem. Turns out that I decided to run over a rather LARGE screw. It also turns out that I can not find my wheel lock bolt. FUN!!!!!! I have called everywhere and they don't make them anymore, it needs to be towed or we will have to cut it off. I have seen these kits that remove these locks. Does anyone have something like this that I can use so I can get this cotton pickin wheel off. By the way it is on the Chevy. Any advice is welcome! Thanks!

Is it a factory lock nut? If so, they have hundreds of patterns..which sucks.

Called AAA. They came out and said that there are so many keys out there that they can't keep up with the demand so they don't even try.

Solution: JBWeld a hinging tire-tool (like the cheap ones that come with the car) to the lock nut. Once it's set, carefully & slowly apply pressure to the nut (so you break the nut on its bolt, not the weld.) If this doesn't work, actually weld something to the nut.

Another idea: depending on how far it sticks out, you might be able to use the craftsman strap wrench tool to get enough torque around the nut, then use another tool to gain more leverage over the nut.

Try one those rent and roll places. They carry universal keys that can get all sorts of locks off.

Cosmo = no longer feeling secure with wheel locks.

Locks keep the honest people, stupid people, and ill-prepared people from stealing your stuff. I'd say it's smart to use them of course, but don't think that you're invincible because you put a funny nut on your wheel, or seats, etc.

I find high-caliber weaponry to be a great deterrent.
