Festival of Speed
Alright kids this Saturday is the Festival of Speed in Straub Park in St Petersburg. I have never been to this event but have heard many good things about the cars and other displays of the rich and not so famous.
From the Festival of Speed Website:
"The experience continues on Saturday as attendees enjoy a gathering of the worlds finest automobiles, motorcycles & watercraft. Vehicles are placed for display on the grounds of North Straub Park overlooking sparkling Tampa Bay. Attendees will enjoy on site cafes, smooth jazz, wine tastings, cigar smokes, luxury lifestyle displays and much more."
Festival of Speed
If anyone (Rob) is interested in displaying their car and being judged the entry fee is $50.00. Their is a $10.00 fee just to enter the event as a spectator.
Location:
Motorsports Collection & luxury lifestyle display.
North Straub Park, St. Petersburg
Saturday, March 28th , 10:00am-4:00pm
We will meet at the Starbucks at:
Meet time (8:30AM)
Starbucks
2577 Ulmerton Rd
St Petersburg, FL 33762
727-540-9177
(This is the same location we meet at for the Cars & Coffee Roll in, accross from Raymond James Financial Complex)
From there we will cruise to St. Petersburg. If anyone is more familiar with the downtown St. Pete area and knows of a good, safe parking spot within walking distance of Straub Park please let me know.
The event starts at 10:00AM so I thought we should plan on meeting up around 8:30AM and try and arrive to park by 9:00 Am or so to get a decent location and walk to the park etc.
I will post up more details about meeting and parking location later in the week. Let's have a good showing of SPGP decaled cars for this event which is in downtown St. Pete and basically at the track. For those new guys and gals attending this will give you a good idea of the "lay of the land" for race weekend.

Probably the best place to park is gonna be in the Baywalk parking garage. There will be no place to park close to the event, unless you want to valet your car at the Vinoy ($10.00). All the parking next to Staub Park is street parking, and all of that will be taken....you might find a spot here and there but definitely nothing together.
So, your looking at a 4-5 block walk from the garage to the event, which is not bad.
I will post up some lunch ideas tomorrow night when I get home from work, im gonna get with the concierge at the vinoy to see whats available.
If I can get an accurate count by Friday of how many will be attending I can inquire about us parking at the vinoy, however dont count on this.
On another note, Festival of Speed is doing a poker run and they are expecting 50+ boats. They started this last year and there were some serious boats there. Hopefully they will have some of these on display as well, although not likely.
