I'm just throwing this out there.

Would anyone be interested in doing this.

I know a lot of planning has to go into this... I feel like doing a scavanger hunt type of road rally. Obviously I'll need some help from a few people. This doesn't have to be S2K exclusive, unless members want it to be... I know this a huge project that's why I wondering if you guys would be interested before I spend time and effort.

I don't want speed/time as an obvious factor because of speeding, racing etc... laws.. sorry to some of you speed happy people..

I also want to take in consideration odometer readings at the beginning of a leg and at the end... and some other possibilites... because I want thinking to be applied and co-pilots involved... maybe even challenges during the pit stops

I'm thinking more on the lines that each of those pit stops have clues where you need to go next to get your next clue.. This is all still in the beginning stages... there can be even trophies handed out at the end... I think this would be exciting and fun but an awful lot of planning before hand.. Let me know what you guys think!!

I agree that you don't want this to be about time or speed, to much potential for bad things to happen. The mishap that happened during the "Supermeet" is fresh in my mind, very lucky no one was hurt.

A great idea there! Hey, since lawful driving always comes up as a concern how about having participants put their d/l in a sealed envelope. The idea being if pulled over for any traffic violation you would have to break the seal to present your license. Such an instance thereby disqualifying the team.

Now I'm thinking about FUN ideas for such an event.

 

Maybe we could make this a kickoff fund raiser event for the Grand Prix next year as well??

 

I would really like to do this... the sad part is anyone such as myself wouldn't neccessarily participate in the rally because I would know where to go but I'm fine with that... I like the idea about for a fundraiser for the Grand Prix, this could even benefit a charity or two... I know who all wants to partake in this will need to meet several times, if not many! I would like to discuss how big we want to make this... Sponsors etc... I can start thinking of ideas and jotting them down and start discussing this with you barry after cars and coffee next month and whomever else...

 

 

How about one of the pit stops being a time trial/auto cross in a parking lot...so it could satify the speed demon in all of us. Granted this would take a lot of planing..just throwing this outthere, sounds like fun!
I could do some graphics for flyers an banners.
as for you participating we could add random objectives that need to be done during the stops to move on to the next cheack point. they way even if you did know you could participate it wouldent matter.
But i dont like the idea of giving up my id...even if you drive safely there are other people on the road....and its still illeagle to drive with out id even with good intentions.

 

No each keep the ID, it's just sealed. When the rally completed all have to show their envelope and if a seal is broken...well that would be indicative. I wouldn't want my ID outta my hands either.

 

I agree with the idea of keeping it safe but the ID thing needs some more thought:

1) Whats to stop me from bring another envelope?

2) Is there some double secret seal wax with the king's seal on it? (Just jokin)

3) The envelope doesn't prevent anyone from driving crazy fast it only tells if they have been caught.

4) At the end of the day everyone has to be responsible for the way they drive and how they treat others on the road.

Of course we would have to come up with some method of an official envelope & sealing method. An envelope or whatever that is unique which, not a std white envelope. I think most would have some honor in that area as a group.

Truth is, there is absolutely no way for us to police anyone's activity or driving style other than if you finish ridiculous fast = FAIL.

The whole point of it would be an attention getter to emphasize we are serious about safe...that is all. Just a gut check so to speak and make participants have that in mind at the beginning.

Other ideas would be having one of Obama's Citizen Patrol members assigned to each car. The SS would rat you out every time. (just trying to be funny folks....no one get twisted plz.)

I'm pretty stoked about this and would really like to participate in plannning.
