[ NEW PLANS FOR A CROSS-STATE MIDNIGHT RIDE IN THE WORKS - STAND BY! COORDINATING WITH OTHER REGIONS ]
So, one of the last STS (Space Shuttle) launches - possibly the last ever - is on Friday, November 5th, at 301pm EDT.
I know a perfect place right North of the pad with nothing but water in between the viewing spot and the pad. Plenty of safe parking for us as well.
Don't miss the quite possibly final opportunity to see in person something that simply cannot be captured by pictures or video.
I plan to pack some drinks, snacks, and a radio for listening to the launch control like the big geek I am.
I'll post details once I have a few others "signed" up. I am thinking this would be a great opportunity to enjoy some Central Florida roads as well, if it weren't a work day.
Who's goin' with me?
1. BelowRadar
2. cosmo rockit (?)
3. Indyana (Possible)
4. Harper Racing (POssible)
5. BBS2000 (Possible meet near Orlando)
6. You

Guys - we talked about this /months/ ago in another thread. I just popped this one up since I saw the shuttle launch mentioned on the news.
Yes - It was started by Scott, but faded away... I have way to ship on my plate at work to nix Monday although a three day weekend is enticing but I have placed the Feb launch on my calendar (since the brain forgets everything.)
I cant do the nov one but i am willing to TRY and plan for the feb one....I will be deep in planning the SPGP stuff so i cant commit 100% but we shall see....
I was there for the first one...I think I should try to be there for the last one
November is a bad month for me t oplan much of anything, lots going on in St Louis/Dayton/Cleveland and Detroit. Feb would work, hope it doesn't change but more than likely it will.
I've been to 2 launches so far. One during the day and the other was a night launch. The night launch was epic as it was the same night I purchased my AP2 from about 3 blocks from the viewing area.
I'm going to mark each of these dates down and see if they work. Would love to see another.
Just keep in mind that attempting to see a launch is not easily planned as they are renowned for being delayed for more than a day.
