Default Buying an S2000

Hey guys,

I live up North around Greenbrier area (small town near White House) and I'm in the market actively looking at S2000's. I've looked at a couple already that need new tops. Where have y'all gone for a new top in this area, what did it cost and would you recommend them?

Also, on maintenance, who would you recommend I take the car too?

Hope to join the community soon, just haven't found the right one yet.

Hey Matt, Welcome.

I had my top replaced about 2 years ago by Jordan, but unfortunately, he's not local anymore. Next time it needs replacing, I'm prob going to attempt it myself, as in helping Jordan, it wasn't as bad as I thought. New/upgraded tops run around $500 and then it's just installing them.

As far as maint, it really depends on what you want done. I usually turn my own wrenches. I just rebuilt the tranny on my Z06 in November, so I do as much myself as I can.

Oil changes, coolant change, brakes, all that I do myself or can help you.

I don't live far from you as I'm in Goodlettsville/Millersville area. If you run across a car pretty local, I can help you check it out.

Good luck in your search, you definitely won't be disappointed.

Another quick questions, Have you looked into the differences in the 2 Gens? Even though they are very similar, there are slight differences that made a difference when I was a buyer 8 years ago.

Just a thought.

PM me your number, I'd like to pick your brain before I fly down to look at an AP1 this Fri. Appreciate your offer to help, I might take you up on that.

Should I hold out for an 03 or 04? My goal was to land around $16k for a car, preferably 50-60k car. The one I'm looking at is a 2000, which doesn't have some of the improvements but the fact that it has 24k and is a one owner is very appealing. Also, lands in my price range.
