So a guy came up to us yesterday at the pool and asked us to pick ten albums (non compilations). These would be the only ten that would be able to listen to for the rest of our lives...

We picked:

1. Pink Floyd - Dark Side of the Moon
2. Bob Dylon - Dont remember the album
3. U2 - Joshua Tree
4. Coldplay - A Rush of Blood to the Head
5. Air - Dont remember the album
6. Nirvana - Nevermind
7. Nine Inch Nails - Downward Spiral
8. Pink Floyd - Wish You Were Here
9. George Carlin - 10 Things You Can't Say on the Radio
10. Muse - Dont remember the album

What would you guys pick and why? We tried to get a little bit of the last few decades to stay diverse. Some funny to keep us sane, something to throw stuff around while listening to it and then something easy and relaxing to return to saneness.

1) Dave Matthews - Any album, just something chill to listen to
2) Foo Fighters - Echoes, Silence, Patience, and Grace - Outstanding album that is great to rock out to
3) David Crowder Band - A very innovative and extrmely musically talented group that is dang near my favorite and *gasp* they're a Christian group
4) Nickelcreek - Just another chill album and outstanding instrumentalists
5) Pink Floyd - Dark Side of the Moon
6) Metallica S&M - Great album, and before they turned rather "blah"
7) Goo Goo Dolls - Whatever their newest one is called, love it
8) Lewis Black - Just any of his albums, he keeps me fresh
9) Michael Buble - Yep, I said it. Outstanding singer and Im a jazz fan as well, so it's a keeper
10) Forrest Gump Soundtrack - Has some outstanding music/groups from that era. One of my favorite soundtracks

Im sure I could come up with 20+, but Ill stop here.

No particular order:

(1) Linkin Park: Meteora
(2) The Smashing Pumpkins: Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness
(3) Dave Matthews Band: Crash
(4) Madonna: Confessions on a Dance Floor
(5) Metallica: Black Album
(6) Ferry Corsten: L.E.F.
(7) Green Day: Dookie
(8) Michael Jackson: Thriller
(9) AC/DC: AC/DC Live
(10) Guns-N-Roses: Appetite for Destruction

That's just the surface ...hard to choose.

ugh

10?

albums?

favorite?

forever?

this isn't an absolute, but it is what I decided to run out the door with ( if they were actually on vinyl )

1. Modern English - After The Snow ( yes they have an album to go with "I melt with you" the endless use of that song does them disservice)

2. Iron Maiden - Powerslave (epic Metal album)

3. U2 - October (hard to pick this one & leave "Boy" on the table as they go hand in hand)

4. Love And Rockets - Earth Sun Moon (I wore this out in High School)

5. Rush - Exit...Stage Left (99% of Live Albums SUCK except this one)

6. Depeche Mode - Music For The Masses (good stuff & heavily played in High School as well)

7. The Smiths - The Queen Is Dead (another High School favorite - if you had lots of friends & were popular with all the ladies then this music was not for you - male teen angst @ it's finest without all the hate)

8. Duran Duran - Rio (it is amazing to me given that this genre of music could have a band that could assemble an album of equally great songs that accompany the hits on it)

9. Yes - 90125 (had to throw it in)

10. The Police - Zenyatta Mondatta (the best of the best Police Albums )

No best of . . . no soundtracks?
You eliminate soooo many worthy possibilities that way.
I have to go back a few years to think of whole albums in which most/all tracks are worthy of consideration.

Pink Floyd - Dark side of the moon (duh)
Emerson, Lake, & Palmer - Brain Salad Surgery
ZZ Top - Eliminator
Van Halen - 1984
Boston - 1st album
Santana Abraxas
Goo Goo Dolls - A boy named Goo
The Fixx - Reach the Beach
Duran Duran - Ordinary World
Joe Satriani - Surfing with the Alien
