Default Natchez Trace

Hi All,

New to the forums. I bought a MY 2000 S today in Crossville, TN today. New Formula Red, 43K miles. It's my second car and my first sports car. Drove it back to my brother's place in Nashville today and couldn't be happier with the car.

I live in Houston and am titling the car there. Next weekend, I'll be driving down the Natchez Trace from Nashville to Natchez and then from there to Houston. Decided to go via the trace rather than highway through Little Rock; if I'm going to put that many miles on the car, I want to enjoy them

Has anyone driven the Trace before? Any tips for the trip? Any dangerous areas / speed traps to be aware of?

Thanks and so happy to be an S owner!

I've driven about 50 miles away from Nashville on the trace and its a beautiful drive. Only thing is make sure you have plenty of time because you will probably get stuck behind a slow car at some point who went let you pass by.

Also, watch out for will animals and do not speed much as it is patrolled by federal police and they are not lenient. My dad got a ticket once when he was driving just 5 mph over. You can't fight those tickets so keep it 45 or 50 max.

Wish I could caravan and make this trip myself and I probably will but later this year. I want to have the top down the entire way! I'd start early in the day because at night the portions I have driven on were pitch black and isolated. Good luck and congrats on the purchase!

Make sure you have a full tank of gas before you get on the trace. Like pwrinxs said, it's fun but watch your speed and animals.

Thanks for the pointers - very helpful . Ill keep what you said in mind. Weather may be a little cool for top down but happy there's no forecasted rain!
