my mom has a jetta tdi, 5 speed. she gets like 50+ mpg and its not loud at all. she commutes from mount juliet to brentwood for work.

 

I know modern diesels are great cars. The problem is changing peoples perspective on the topic is too costly for manufacturers to convert everything.
