They want 400$ to fix what I have. The TV was 1200$ to begin with..
I know. We (mcs2k) already had that convo. I just haven't had the funds until now. Mid-A is like dude take it apart & fix it yourself. that is waaaaay over my head - this isn't a rrod repair job.

If I could just by the parts I'd fix the bastard myself. I need to look for repair parts I guess.

Chris (at least with my TV) the repair parts weren't much less. & in my case - I'd be shooting in the dark.

The out of warranty repair is a joke. You tell the guy over the phone what it does, and they shotgun all the components it could be.

You get to pay for the full repair and they send the parts to the local repair guys. THe local guy then sticks in all the parts that could cause the problem. No real technician work being done in the field.

The last 2 guys that tried to fix the surround sound under warranty didn't even have a decent screwdriver. They had a printed email and replaced 4 circuit boards. The surround sound quit 3 hours after they left..

I never opt for warranty anything - the stuff is practically disposable technology now...
