Yeah, this has really got me thinking. I didn't realize how "cheap" they are getting. I don't care about street-ability. The S primarily sits in the garage anyway. The only thing that holds me off is that I'm looking forward to driving the S in the new STR class. My current mods will make the car really competitive in this class (as long as I don't suck).

Yeah, I'm going to try and make all the local events. I'm not a big autocross fan, but if there is some good local competition and I can take home some trophies then I'll stick with it more. I also plan on attending more NASA events this year, but I'm also limited to tracks like Road Atlanta and Putnam Park that still allow s2000's with stock roll protection on. I'll just be working my way up the NASA HPDE program, so that doesn't really matter what car I'm in.
