I wouldn't write it off yet. My bro-in-law had a macbook that his friend gave him because his friend had dropped it and broke the screen, and got pissed off and threw it down again. It was sitting in my bro-in-law's garage when the May flood came and was submerged for a couple days. He asked me if I wanted it; I told him what the f' would I want with a Mac, no less a broken one. I took it just to see if the piece of junk could actually run. It was growing mold, so we soaked it down with a mix of bleach and water, and let it sit in a tub. I promptly set it up to dry and forgot about it. A couple of weeks later, while I was piddling around in my garage, I remembered the broken mac and decided I'd try and hook it up. Shockingly, it booted right up. Now given the extreme conditions it went through, the DVD drive won't read (I assume due to a dirty lens, it tries though), but the HD functions and it works to surf the web (if you're into doing that with a G4 -lol).
wow, that's crazy.
