my job has become one great big penalty kill - worked for the same company for 10 years come September, know my company/job backwards and forwards, but declining sales has led to less to do

pluses - 3+weeks of vacation, 100+hrs sick time, 10 holidays, probably overpaid now, pretty flexible and trusting boss, seniority

minuses - 70mi round trip in traffic that makes Nashville's look like Cookeville's, same f'ing story everyday-machines are always behind schedule because either marketing has sold something engineering hasn't released or the crappy vendors we use send us bad (out of spec) parts...I try to send these out of spec parts back but am told by middle management that we need to use these parts to make shipment, so we end up shipping crappy product and the higher ups wonder why? Uh, apparently to keep the cost down by going to shitty suppliers so you can have a higher profit margin and you can have another one of your Porsches delivered to our campus, jackholes!

I can honestly say I have no pride in the product we manufacture now; I try to do the right thing, but it's out of my hands, so I focus on what I can control and take pride in that. Other than that, my mind is on moving and the thought of getting to go to my family's farm on a frequent basis...
