Is a certain shaped filter needed for the airbox? Can a standard cone style filter be used?

 

It would need a filter to fit the adapter, which is much larger than a stock air filter. Comptech used foam uni filters.

 

There is a filter I've found that replaces those comptech foam filters, it's basically the same quality and design as K&N. Can be had for around 60-75$ and come pre-oiled.
