Hey austinites...

I wanted to know what's there to do in austin. I'll be there for a job interview on friday july 7th. (which i might move down there, if things work out)

What can i do during the day...then for the night ? I hear 6th street is the place to be. Is it bunch of clubs and bars and what not ? I wanna have fun !

Plenty to do in Austin. By day I'd check out Barton Springs Pool. Naturally spring fed cool water to keep your chill on a 100 degree day. The scenery is often very nice as well. You can take to the Town Lake hike and bike trail or paddle the lake on a rented kayak. There are riverboat excursions and even an amphibious vehicle to show you the lake and the city known as the "Duck Tour". South Congress Ave. has plenty of Austin "weirdness" in the form of ecclectic shops, restaurants and a few watering holes. Just up the street on the Congress Ave. bridge you can do the tourist thing and watch a couple million bats fill the sky around dusk. Sixth street isn't the only entertainment downtown. Be sure to venture west to 4th Street and enjoy a good brew at The Gingerman. There are several good restaurants, bars and clubs in the vicinity known as the Warehouse District, all within a short walk of 6th Street. To the north of 6th St. there are several diverse music venues on Red River.

Maybe there will be some interest among our locals to meet you at a happy hour.
Good luck with your interview. I think you will like what you find in Austin where many of us have chosen to make it our home.

Don't forget about the Hill Country roads - driving them in your S2000 would be a fun escape from what you have in DFW!

Stefan's suggestions are all good - if you're not having a good time in Austin, you're prob. not trying very hard!

I'll be up for anything if anyone wants to have another ambassador to Austin. Feel free to pm me if anyone wants to hang out and grab a pint.

Anyone have any route maps to the hill country drives? I'll be in the area this weekend.

Just lined up another one for Thursday... so I'll be there Thursday night and will go home either Friday night or Saturday morning.

Sounds like a GTG on Friday evening might be in order. I just found out there may be others from DFW in town for the 4th and a few might be staying over the following weekend...
