Default Alarm system Question

Hey guys, I did a search on this topic but was wondering if there has been any new information of good places in SA to take my car to get an alarm system installed. Are places like Best Buy good or can they be hit or miss. Also any recommendations on actual alarm systems would be highly appreciated.

I think anywhere you go is kind of hit and miss, I have mixed feelings about alarm systems, they do their job most of the time, but all the splicing into the stock harness is a mess and most installers do a half ass job of dressing it properly.

The S is a pain to work in b/c of the cramped space. I would make sure whoever you take it to understands that you want a clean install, not just a bunch of those crappy wire taps and crimp caps.

I've always heard stories of cars being stolen right after an alarm system was installed so be careful who you take it to. I had Custom Sounds on San Pedro install one many many years ago in my Grand Am and they did a really good job. There's also one on Bandera & 410 next to the old EZ's.

I had an alarm on my Integra and it didn't do squat. It was broken into 3 times and then just outright stolen and stripped. Those first 3 times they took off the battery cable to stop it so make sure you get a battery backup.

Would probably be a better solution and less evasive, but it only helps with recovery.

Well, I remember the new lo-jack has the ability to call, page or text you if the vehicle moves without the FOB being close to it.

Whatever you decide to have installed, don't post it on the forum. Crooks read this forum and will know how to defeat whatever system you get. That goes for the stickers "protected by ......" Leave em off ur car, crooks aren't dumb. Honda Tuning had an article last year, it explained ways to cutomize your alarm install. One way was to wire the started kill through the fuel pump rather than the ignition wire. Another was to mount the brain some place other than under the dash. Plan to spend $750-$1000. Cliffiord and Code are considered "high end". Also remember, no car is theft proof, an alarm is a deterrant. Put two S2000s next to eachother, one with an alarm one without, the crook will go for the one without. But if they really want it, they'll kill the alarm. Definitely check out the options and add ons such as tilt, glass breakage, piezo sirens, paging, gps.......etc. Customize to make it harder to defeat.

Honestly IMO as long as you park your car in your garage over night, and do not go to sketchy places you should be fine
