Default Beer Drinking and Clearing the Headlights?

I've found that some of our members of "Team Jollyville" are interested in clearing our headlights one of these weekends. Schatten, dtms, jwfisher, and myself have expressed some interest in doing this.

Since it is not a fully labor intensive project, we can just sit around and drink beer and talk about cars while the headlight housings are in the oven.

Anyone else interested? Where? When is a good weekend to do this?

Here is a really good FAQ post about clearing the lights:

I guess all we need are some basic tools, an oven, really good silicon adhesive, replacement bulbs (like the Phillips Silvervision), and a couple cases of beer.

Thoughts?

FWIW, Prelude taillights are cleared with a very similar procedure, so I might join you all if it's on a favorable date. I've been meaning to do it for a while, because the tails are the only amber thing left on my exterior.

I'm interested, but my main concern is not getting them properly re-sealed against moisture or otherwise screwing up some expensive headlights. Is this is a rational concern, or am I being overly paranoid?

far more worrisome is the fact that Wes (Wesmaster) thinks cleared headlights are gay. His thread about this topic seems to have been deleted.. probably got offensive towards the end..

As for the sealing concerns.. PM some of the people who have done it. It seems that if you run it through the oven an extra time to dry it out and then apply enough sealant, everything is fine. According to the instructions linked above, the sealant cannot be seen when the headlights are reinstalled, so you're free to use as much as necessary in order to ensure a good seal.

Getting moisture in the housings after it rains is my biggest concern too. I'll look around for some really good silicone sealant. I think we will need some kind of clamps or string to bind the housings together really well to let the sealant do its job correctly.

Why did Wes think clearing the lights is gay?

He never actually said why. I think he just prefers orange and also wanted to start an argument. He doesn't post as often anymore, and people were starting to forget about him..

I will go and do the drinking beer part and hang out. I don't think I am going to change my lights though. Just name a day.
