Talking Found my next project

Yes I know this should be in a different forum sub cat but I thought that I would share it with yall first and get some input

So as some of yall know (mainly the ones in the Killeen, Temple, Belton area) I am at Wyotech for some schooling. Well I started a my next class which is Chassis Fab. and while taking a walk through the shop I noticed a space-frame just sitting all by itself in the corner. Upon asking my instructor about it he said it was a replica Lotus Super & chassis that he built about a year ago and is willing to give me the blueprint for it for me to build one for only around $200 dollars. Now the original design is constructed from box tubing but his version is made of round stock. It only weighs about 200-250 pounds as just a chassis. And with a different motor in it, a SR20det it weighed in at about 1100 pounds as a full car. So I have decided to make one and slap our beloved engine, and trans in it. And take it road racing.

Yes I know that it is going to take awhile but I can at least get the chassis built with mounts for the control arms and rear 4 link in and suspension points (IE coil-overs and sway-bars and steering (which oddly enough is a chevette rack and pinion)) I have a body panel supplier so that wont be to hard and they have the suspension bits I need also. One thing I am goin to have to out source for the fact that we arent allowed to build them is the control arms for the front suspension. So over the next 12 weeks yall will get to see the evaluation of my craziest idea (even though it has been done before I want to do it).

And if all goes well I will have the plans once I graduate to build more of them for whom ever would like to have a nice project. But not at the same price I am building mine.

Thanks hope yall enjoy this build I dont know when I am goin to get started on it because I have my cage for the S to build first, but i will update as soon as I can get info.

yeah i plan on it... the good thing is I already have a motor to go into it when the time comes to do so. Just need to pick up a transmission and the clutch master and slave... There is a ton of stuff that I already have for the project just need to get about 100 feet of wire of different colors to do the wiring harness for the lights and the dash... God I cant wait man this is goin to be an epic build... I am even thinking about painting it the same color as my S (Sazuka Blue Bitches)

There was an open-wheel car with an F20 in it this past weekend at Texas Nationals. Definitely post up photos through the whole process.

Yeah, the Ultralite S2000... There was a company here in Texas that made those... Look up WCM Ultralite sometime...

I was so close to buying one about a year ago -- I actually had the winning bid on one on eBay for a little while, but it just barely went above my hard-limit on price I was willing to spend.
