not to be a dick but what's the point of this little "wondering" thread.

Bought legit, stolen, traded, doesn't matter... We don't know the real truth. So we cant asume anything.

From what I've seen there is a very good chance they are in fact stolen. Most of the hardcore S2k people around here that are likely to modify their vehicle know each other so would be aware of someone selling seats.

It does matter for two reasons. One is that it affects all of us with our insurance premiums and also a chance that one of us might get our seats stolen. Two is that it is possible to make things tougher on people who deal in stolen goods. One store in north Austin - that has since gone under - was found to have stolen S2000 seats b/c the victim was actually able to id them himself. I try to peruse craigslist Austin every week or so and flag every S2000 seats for sale ad. If it is legit the owner should be able to post pics of the old seats being taken out of his/her car or some other proof that his is an S2k owner.

I titled the post "for what it's worth" b/c I doubted anything would come of it. But IF the seats were stolen recently and IF the victim of the theft saw the post, the information might be of interest. (Yes, I am a confirmed believer in the power of serendipity.) I know that if my seats were stolen, I would look into this even if nothing could be proven. I'd want to meet the guy with the seats and take his measure.

That's my friend Billy's car and they are legit seats. You can't always assume something is stolen just cuz it's not in an s2.

Yes but if there is any doubt I will flag it. Seats are too expensive and this kind of theft is so frequent it is better to err on the side of caution. Before and after photos of the seats being taken out and new ones being put in would make me think it was legit.

so take pics of the stolen seats as you install them into your accord/civic/integra?

until they devise the mind police, you're all wasting your time.

don't own a nice car if you can't garage it.
