Default Getting out of a lease

Anyone know if you can get out of a lease? Can someone pick up your lease payments and thefore take ownership of your car? Just checking. I see a bumpy road ahead of me when my Fiancee gets into PA school and I am seeing if getting out of a lease is a possible solution.

If you're doing an LPP with AHF, you should be able to sell the vehicle as well. I don't know how the whole title transfer thing would work, and it will be harder for the buyer to get a loan (higher rates for buying a used vehicle from a private party). However, this would avoid paying any lease disposition fee, and assuming you sell it for more than your payoff amount (otherwise, don't bother), you can pocket whatever amount you net.

Be aware, however, that the used car market SUCKS for sellers in general right now, and it's compounded by the fact that convertibles are harder to sell in winter.

Cheers,
Dave
