Is Corpus Christi beach any good?
Also, is the Drury Hotel on the Riverwalk look nice? I have mixed feelings looking at the pics on the internet. And is Schlitterbahn Water Park worth the money?
IDK if anyone would know about the questions im asking, but i figured i would try. lol
Thanks for the help!

If you do go down to Corpus Christi, you may want to just go across the causeway over to North Padre/Mustang Island. Mustang Island State Park is usually really quiet compared to the "public" beaches that are free.

South Padre is going to take a lot longer than 2-3 hours unless you're flying in a private plane!
Mustang Island can be reached by SPID just the other side of the JFK causeway. There are a few hotels and a state park. The park has camp sites and showers. Be warned the park does not allow public alcohol consumption but they don't seem to mind if you use discretion. A little further north there are condo rentals and resorts along the county beach. The park will charge an entrance fee. Also note there is a Nuaces County parking permit required to park on the beach outside of the State Park boundary.
Port Aransas is on the north end of the island and can also be reached from the north side of Corpus Christi Bay by ferry. Port A features restaurants, bars, stores, fishing, watercraft and beach toy rentals, a public beach, hotels and condo rentals. Its touristy with prices to match. Accommodations range from seedy to nice chain hotels. A Port Aransas beach parking permit is required for the city beach.
Further north you can find Rockport as another destination with fishing and dining. The beach here is sheltered on the inland side of the island.
The southern end of Mustang features a less traveled beach known as Malachite. Unfortunately this is a long drive on loose sand best suited for 4x4 vehicles. Accessible by paved Park Roads, Bird Island Basin is on the Intercoastal Waterway side of the island, frequently visited by sailboard/kiteboard enthusiasts and nature lovers.
Corpus Christi has a few beaches but these are located on the bay. They're good if you are into windsurfing or kiteboards but not really great for swimming. A few hotels maintain decent sandy beaches along the bay. The State Aquarium, USS Lexington and a few museums are along the waterfront. You can find decent food, bars and any kind of hotel along the waterfront.

I was in Port A/Corpus Christi most of last week. We stayed @ the Sandpiper Condos right in the middle of Mustang Island....nice place/beaches, but fairly secluded from dining, shopping, etc. The beaches were much more happening @ the Port A end of the island, if you're looking for a party vibe. The nice thing is that between Mustang Island, North Padre Island (separated from Mustang by a small bridge), and Corpus, there's all kinds of waterfront/beach options.
We went to the State Aquarium, and it was well worth the trip - I esp. loved the dolphin show!

We will drive down from San Antonio just for one day at the beach and drive back up that evening. So, i am not looking to rent anything at the beach...just go down for the day, find a nice beach, have some fun, and then go back to our hotel.
