Default little int/ext mods ...

Hi,

I'm going to do some little interior and exterior modifications on my S2K this week end and would have appreciate any warning/hints/suggestions before ... just to use your experience!

Here is what I'm gonna do :

1) Remove the front license plate holder.
I asked the Howdy Honda (where I bought my car) to remove it when they installed the real license plate (I just got my car a month ago, you remember!) ... but they didn't want to do it ... So I bought two front license plate bumper plugs from handa-accessories.com and decided I was going to do it myself.
Is there any thing I should really be careful when removing the original license plate holder or when installing the plugs?

2) Install a seat back pocket.
3) Install a cargo net.
Both articles (2, 3) were bought from handa-accessories.com also and they state in their installation instructions that I'm suppose to enlarge (redrill) some of the original clip holes until their well nuts will fit into the hole ...

4) Hardwire my Passport 8500.
For this one, I found a doc on the FAQ page of S2Ki and also
on this website ... but I don't know if there is any difference with the fact that I do have a 2002 S2K (anything changed?) ...

I'll be really happy to benefit some of your experience if you did one of those mods and encounter any issues or wish you would have known something before ...

Thanks a lot in advance,

-Teo.

1) What BlueS2000 said, it couldn't be much easier
2) Too bad you already bought the seatback pocket - I have a barely used one hanging on my garage wall that I would have sold you cheap! (I removed it when I installed my rear speakers. Use a hole punch to enlarge the bottom hole for the snap.
4) I routed my wires using Loki's instructions and found it to be very easy. Didn't actuall wire it myself, since my car was going into Custom Sounds anyway and they offered to do the electrical connection for free.

BlueHS2000, you bought your from Howdy and they gave you the plugs?? Well, it's not like it's expensive or anything, but they could have give them to me ... Anyway, that's really not important.
My car is black with black inside ... and I love it!

Chris S, well yeah that sucks ... I could have buy it from you. Otherwise, concerning the radar detector, do you own a V1 or a 8500? If you have the 8500, I do have a question :
When I put my 8500 on my windshield and drive, if the road is a little bit too bumpy, then sometimes the radar is going to not only vibrate a lot but also change its locking position by itself ... and that's kind of anoying ... do you have the same issue?

Thanks,

-Teo.

Triple black is sweet. I was about to get a black S but I wanted the 2002 model but the only thing that bothers me is that you have to clean the hell out of it. good luck iim going to RCR if you want to come and race or watch I dont know how new your car is so u may not want to race or put miles on it.

Can anyone clarify the Texas law on front license plates. With about 1002 miles on my car, I was headed out to the back roads near Killeen (are there any other kind of roads here?) and in my rush to get there (9,000 rpm), I was pulled over for 86 in a 70. Maybe it was the uniform, maybe the line about Christmas shopping for my 14 kids (phhht, right), but I escaped with just a warning. Anyway, in addition to the warning about "speed doesn't kill, sudden stops do", the trooper also wrote me up for no front plates.
So what's the real deal? I still have the plugs from the dealer. Love to use them, smooth things out again.

An easier way to power your radar detector:

Its the law, but its rarely enforced unless your are going to a custom car show at the Dell Diamond. Personally I have only had one warning for no front plate in 2.5 years of driving without one. If you do get a real ticket you just have to put the plate on, go to the judge, show him your car, pay the dismissal fee ($0 - $10 depending on where you got the ticket), and go home and take the plate right off.
