looking for a blue 2002 or 2003

My criteria: 02 or 03, blue, very good to like new condition, less than 40k, unmodified or slightly modified

Car 1 in Dallas:
Price: $21,499
Mileage: 25,800

Car 2 in Austin:
Price: $23,900
Mileage: 17,800

I got my loan approved yesterday at my credit union for 4.4% for 60 months, so I just have to find the right car and then sell my '94 Miata.

Car #2 was driven very lightly, waxed and garaged, and only has scuffs on the bottom of the front overhang. I think I can get the price down, maybe 1k.

I haven't seen Car #1 in person yet.

What do you all think?

What year model are those two cars?

At any rate, those sound like pretty good prices for some low-mileage cars.

How bout a 2000 GPW s2000 w/ only 43,000 miles and its carfacts certified for only 18,500

gsolman 04-24-2005 06:59 PM

car 1 is an 03 and car 2 is an 02. I'm beginning to think the drive to Dallas
is not worth it since I like the one here in Austin.

43,000 miles and its carfacts certified for only 18,500

I don't understand - what is the discrepency between these two numbers?
what is carfacts certified mean? Did you mean 'carfax?'

tommy_s2k 04-25-2005 09:15 AM

18,500 is how much im selling it for, meant 'carfax' certified which means it has never been in an accident

I have a friend selling an '02 red w/ 41K miles. It has a salvage title (not sure of the reason), but is in near perfect shape. New rear tires as well. $17,500.

I would go with the 2002, but you can get them down lower than that. I just bought a flawless 2003 with 18k on it for 22.5. You can but the 2002 for less. My guess is 20K. Start the bid at 19, settle on 21.

If you don't like what's going on, ealk out of the dealer and tell them to call you when they are ready. Trust me, THEY WILL. Everyone of them called me repeatedly.

A '02 with 18k on it for 22.5 sounds like a great deal. Was it from a dealer
or private?

I would rather do private myself as I believe I will get a better deal by cutting out
the middle man. Plus it is just easier dealing with individuals as there is much
less BS.

If I can get her from her asking price for 24k to 22.5k I would be very happy.

About the salvage car: I don't know much about these but doesn't it mean the
car was in a serious accident and/or declared a total loss?

Chris S 04-25-2005 08:10 PM

It usually means an ins. claim that was a material % of the car's market value. Could be something as simple as hail damage or a major collision, I don't know...

A co-worker purchased his perfect '02 Sebring Silver with only 8K miles for $22K. The previous owner was in the army, based in San Antonio and needed to sell the car before returning to the gulf. Keep an eye out for cars in the San Antonio, Houston and Corpus Christi papers as well as Kileen, DFW and Austin. Most listings are available online. Many web browsers, search engines and web portals will let you configure a custom search that will deliver these listings to your e-mail until you cancel the search. There are more deals out there than you might imagine, you just have to do some searching...

I keep trying to look in S Antonio but can't find any used S'.

$22k for and 8,000 mile S is a very good deal. I am letting the
lady I talk to "ferment" a little before I call her back.

Seems like autotrader.com has the most listings.
